IPL 2022 mega auction: 5 uncapped Indian batters who may attract great bids
The most awaited IPL 2022 mega auction takes place on February 12 and 13 and cricket fans are eagerly anticipating two great days of the action-packed auction. This is the first mega auction since the year 2018 and it promises to be an exciting one as some of the uncapped Indians are expected to go under the hammer.
Let’s take a look at the top 5 uncapped Indian batters who will trigger bidding wars at the auction table:
1. Shahrukh Khan
The power-hitter Shahrukh Khan wasn’t retained by Punjab Kings for the 2022 auction. In ten IPL innings in 2021, he scored 153 runs with a strike rate of 134.21. Coach Anil Kumble even stated that Khan reminded him of big-hitting West Indian Kieron Pollard. Khan’s explosive batting style and his six-hitting prowess are likely to create a bidding war amongst the teams on mega auction day.
2. Srikar Bharat
Srikar Bharat stunned each and every one by hitting a last-ball six to win the match for RCB against DC. Chasing 165, RCB needed five off the last ball, and he smashed Avesh Khan for a six to make his name. Bharat made 78* off 52 to clinch a thriller for his side. He finished the season with 191 runs in seven innings with an average of 38.20. He is also a wicketkeeper and even replaced Wriddhiman Saha as a substitute against New Zealand in November 2021.
3. Rahul Tripathi
Rahul Tripathi was KKR’s second-highest run-getter in IPL 2021 as he scored 397 runs in 16 innings with a strike rate of 140.28. He scored two fifties with the highest score of 74*. Preferably a top-order batter who has previously played for RR and RPS as well is likely to attract bidders as Tripathi has the ability to play aggressively and score runs quickly.
4. Tanmay Agarwal
Tanmay Agarwal was the highest run-scorer in SMAT 2021/22 as the opener amassed 334 runs in seven innings at 55.66 and a strike rate of 148.44. He struck four fifties with the highest score of 97*. He is likely to be a good pick for the franchises as he is a consistent performer in the domestic circuit. He was even bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017 for ten lakhs.
5. Mohammad Azharuddeen
Azharuddeen was part of RCB in IPL 2021 but never got a chance to showcase his skills. He scored 214 runs in five innings in SMAT 2020/21 with an average of 53.50 and a solid strike rate of 194.54. He became the first player for Kerala to smash a century in a T20 match against Mumbai in that tournament. He achieved the feat in 37 balls, which is also the second-fastest ton in SMAT history.
