Suresh Raina’s father passes away after losing battle with cancer
Cricket world received a sad piece of news on Sunday (February 6) as Suresh Raina’s father, Trilokchand Raina, passed away due to cancer. Trilokchand was a military officer and had mastery in making bombs. The former Indian batter would often share pictures with his father alongside heartwarming messages. As fans got to know about the development, condolences came in from different corners.
It must be noted that Trilokchand breathed his last at his residence in Ghaziabad. Raina’s father hailed from Rainawari in Jammu and Kashmir, which happens to be his ancestral village. In the 1990s, Trilokchand left his village and settled down in the Muradnagar town. Suresh saw financial struggles in his childhood as his father had a salary of INR 10,000 per month. Hence, he couldn’t afford the high cricket coaching fees for his son.

Speaking of Suresh Raina, the left-handed batter announced retirement from international cricket in 2020 alongside MS Dhoni. However, he continues to ply his trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Although he didn’t feature in the 2020 season due to personal reasons, he served Chennai Super Kings last year.
The southpaw didn’t really enjoy a fruitful season and he eventually lost his place to Robin Uthappa in the playing XI. He wasn’t either retained by the franchise ahead of the 2022 mega auction. Nevertheless, the 35-year-old will feature in the bidding event and multiple franchises are expected to go after him. Not to forget, the batter has played some jaw-dropping knocks in the gala T20 league which earned him the title of ‘Mr. IPL.’
He’s also a brilliant fielder, who can also chip with his handy off-spins. Although franchises aren’t likely to break the bank for him, they would look to acquire the southpaw’s services for a bargain.
