The limited-overs series between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe has been postponed yet again. Zimbabwe Cricket has reportedly stated that it was unable to procure the required broadcasting services for the series. This is the second time that the series has been postponed.

The series was postponed for the first time after Afghanistan had asked for the series to be held at a later date in December last year. The limited-overs series will comprise of 3 ODIs and 5 T20I matches. Zimbabwe Cricket stated that they could not get the broadcasting services within such a short notice as there were many cricket events taking place around the globe.

“Unfortunately ZC could not secure, on short notice, all the required broadcast services, including the Decision Review System, due to the many cricket events happening elsewhere across the world,” read the statement released by Zimbabwe Cricket.

Deferring the tour was the only option: Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director

The Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket, Givemore Makoni said that deferring the limited-overs series between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan was the only option that was available. Givemore concluded by stating that Zimbabwe will reschedule this series as quickly as they can.

“We were excited about hosting Afghanistan but, given the circumstances, deferring the tour was the only option. We are, however, looking forward to the rescheduling of the series as soon as practically possible,” concluded Givemore Makoni.

The Zimbabwe cricket team was last seen in action during the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The Zimbabwe side lost the series 1-2. On the other hand, the Afghanistan cricket team last played a three-match ODI series against The Netherlands side.

The Afghanistan side produced a superb performance in that series, as they whitewashed their opponents by a margin of 3-0. The Afghanistan side did not give their opponents even a whiff of a chance and outplayed the Netherlands cricket team in every department of the game.
