The three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and Netherlands in Doha, Qatar just got concluded as the Asian team thumped the Dutch side by a 3-0 margin winning all three games by defending their targets. The Netherlands team had no answers in any of the matches against the spin bowling of the strong Afghanistan side.

1. Hashmatullah Shahidi

Afghanistan skipper Shahidi led his team exceptionally well both with his captaincy skills and batting as he notched up 155 runs with scores of 73, 54, and 28 at an average of 51.67. He smashed two half-centuries in three clashes and ended up the series as the highest run-scorer for Afghanistan and second-highest run-getter overall in the series. Batting at no. four he stabilized the middle-order and guided his team to scores of above 220 in all the matches.

2. Rahmat Shah

Rahmat Shah, who has the experience of 79 ODIs under his belt, finished the series with third-most runs overall and second-most for his side as the right-handed batter chalked up 153 runs. In the first ODI, after the openers didn’t do much, Rahmat Shah joined hands with skipper Shahidi as the former scored 70 runs and shared 66 runs partnership with the captain. He mustered scores of 70, 35, and 48.

3. Scott Edwards

The only silver lining for the Netherlands in an otherwise sorry series, is opener Scott Edwards. With 208 runs and an average of 69.33 in three games, the 25-years old looked in terrific touch as he ended the series as the highest run-scorer. He slammed half-centuries in each of the three, scoring 68, 86, and, 54. For his splendid performances, Edwards was declared the Player of the Series.

4. Mujeeb Ur Rahman

Mujeeb Ur Rahman took seven wickets with an average of 14.28 and strike-rate of 22.8, ending as the highest wicket-taker. The young spinner opened the bowling with Yamin Ahmadzai in the first and second ODI as the former took two and four wickets respectively. With figures of 4/32 in the second match, he spun a web to win the clash by 48 runs for Afghanistan. In 3rd ODI he again opened the bowling with Fazalhaq Farooqi and took a solitary wicket. His economy rate in the series read was a brilliant 3.75.

5. Rashid Khan

The talismanic Afghanistan spinner, Rashid Khan ended the series as the second-highest wicket-taker with six scalps to his name. The leg spinner bowled 27 overs in the series and conceded just 99 runs with an economy rate of 3.66. One of the best T20 bowlers in the world and Afghanistan’s premier bowler, Rashid took three, one and two wickets in the three ODIs with an average of 16.50 and strike rate of 27.0.
