IPL 2021: Milestones achieved and records broken in the tournament

The fourteenth season of the Indian Premier has been postponed for an indefinite period after multiple cases of COVID-19 were reported among the teams. In the first half of the season, there were many incredible performances by the players which impressed everyone. During this phase, many new records and milestones were also created. In this article, we will be listing out all the big records and numbers from IPL 2021.

6000 – RCB captain Virat Kohli completed 6000 IPL runs in the clash against RR and became the first-ever player to achieve the milestone.

5000 – Shikhar Dhawan looked in great touch this season and was the orange cap holder till the stoppage of the tournament. He became the first player to complete 5000 runs as an opener in IPL history.

200 – MS Dhoni became the first player to play 200 T20 matches as a captain of the same side. He has been leading the CSK side since the inaugural season in 2008.

4000 – Rohit Sharma also achieved a major milestone this year as he completed 4000 T20 runs as a captain, and became the fourth Indian to reach the landmark.

50 – David Warner became the first player to complete 50 half-centuries in IPL. He also has 4 centuries to his name in the cash-rich league.

150 – MS Dhoni reached a big landmark in terms of wicketkeeping as he became the first player to complete 150 dismissals behind the wicket.

36 – Ravindra Jadeja smashed 36 runs in an over against Harshal Patel in the game against RCB. This was the record for the joint-most runs scored by a batsman in an over in IPL.

4 –  Nicholas Pooran looked in terrible form in IPL 2021 as he got out for a duck 4 times this season. This is the record for joint-most ducks for a player in one IPL season.

119 – In the very first game of Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson smashed 119 runs off 63 balls against PBKS. He became the first player to score an IPL century on his captaincy debut.

6 – Prithvi Shaw hit six fours in an over against Shivam Mavi in the IPL clash against KKR. He became the first player to smash 6 fours in the first over of IPL.
