Veda Krishnamurthy’s sister succumbs to Covid-19
Two weeks ago on April 24, Indian Women’s cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy was jolted by her mother’s passing due to Covid-19. Today, reports have emerged that her sister Vatsala Shivakumar, who was battling the virus for some time, has also passed away.
According to ESPNCricinfo, Vatsala (42) was admitted to a hospital in Chikkamagaluru and was understood to have shown signs of improvement of late. However, on the day of their mother’s passing, she was put on ventilator as a result of Covid-19 induced pneumonia. She reportedly breathed her last on Wednesday.
Earlier, Veda had taken to Twitter to thank everyone for the messages she was receiving. She also confirmed that she had tested negative and that prayers were in order for her elder sister, who had tested positive.
Appreciate all the messages I have received about the loss of my Amma. As you can imagine my family is lost without her. We now pray for my sister. I have tested negative & appreciate if you can respect our privacy. My thoughts & prayers go out to those going through the same!!

Apart from going through personal crisis, Veda has been actively helping amplify requests for beds, oxygen and other essential requirements to fight Covid-19 on Twitter.
Our condolences and prayers are with the Krishnamurthy family in these tough times.
