IPL 2021: DC vs KKR Preview – Dominating Delhi face resurgent Kolkata

Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals have had contrasting fortunes up until now in the IPL 2021. KKR have won two matches and lost four so far in the league while the runners-up from last year’s IPL have won four games and lost only two. What differentiates them is how, unlike Kolkata, Delhi couldn’t start their Ahmedabad leg with a win.

Kolkata, on the other hand, would be pumped having got two points from Punjab Kings in their previous match. Delhi will surely start as favourites based on form, but it should be noted that Kolkata have had an edge over Delhi in the past. In 26 matches so far, KKR have won 14 games while Delhi have won 11. It should be a close match, considering how the points table stack now with both teams looking to get a win under their name.

Time: 7:30 PM IST

Head to head:

Stat Attack:

Eoin Morgan is 46 runs away from completing 1,000 runs for KKR in IPL.

Dinesh Karthik is 68 runs away from completing 4000 runs in IPL.

Team News:

Delhi Capitals: Rishabh Pant won’t be too unhappy with his team’s loss against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The loss would hurt them but also gives a sense of belief that they did manage to almost close to the finish line. Having said that, the introduction of Ishant Sharma in the previous innings was a trick that worked out well. He should continue to partner up with Avesh Khan and Kagiso Rabada. Delhi is expected to go unchanged.

Kolkata Knight Riders: Kolkata will be happy to have started their Ahmedabad leg with a win, which they desperately needed. Having won their first match at the venue, they will be looking to make sure they continue their momentum into the second match here. They are unlikely to tinker with the bowling combination, having found a good rhythm with the ball despite their loss in the previous match. Shivam Mavi should continue in their XI. Shubman Gill who hasn’t got going in this IPL so far will be expected to turn around his fortunes with a good knock.
