Sachin Tendulkar helping

On his birthday, legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar urged all his countrymen to donate blood and plasma to help the nation in battling the widespread pandemic. The champion batsman had tested COVID-19 positive last month and was also hospitalized as a precautionary measure. Having recovered from the infection, the Master Blaster requested all Indians to help each other in such trying circumstances.

Posting a video from his official social media accounts, Tendulkar thanked his fans for pouring in so much love on his birthday. He also confirmed that he himself will be donating plasma once his doctors find it permissible. With a horrifying surge in the numbers of COVID patients, plasma donation will help a lot in the treatment.

Here’s the video message:

Tendulkar thanks his well-wishers

“Big thank you all of you. Last year I had inaugurated a plasma donation centre, and their message was if plasma is given at the right time, patients can recover faster. I, too, when permissible, would be donating plasma; I have had a word with my doctor,” Tendulkar said.

Urging citizens for donating blood, the Master Blaster said: “All of those who have recovered from Covid-19, consult your doctor, and when permissible, please donate blood. With this, problems we are facing can be reduced. Please donate blood and help fellow Indians.”

Sharing his experience of battling with Covid-19, he said that it was a “challenging month” for him.

“Thank you, everyone, for your birthday wishes. It has truly made my day. The last month has been a tough one for me. I tested positive and had to be isolated for 21 days. Your good wishes, my family and friends’ good wishes, and last but not the least, the doctors and the staff kept me in a positive frame of mind and helped me recover,” revealed Master Blaster.

India is currently jolted by the second wave of COVID-19, with the number of cases and new infections rising at a frightening pace daily. In such trying circumstances, the act of donating plasma will go a long way in alleviating the treatment problems. Tendulkar made the same appeal while thanking his well-wishers on the occasion of his birthday.
