IPL 2021: Axar Patels recovers from COVID-19; joins Delhi Capitals’ bubble
Indian all-rounder Axar Patel has finally tested negative with COVID-19 and joined Delhi Capitals’ biosecure bubble. The Capitals team is currently in Chennai and is staying in ITC Grand Chola, where Patel joined his team. The franchise released a video in which the Gujarat player was seen meeting his teammates.
Ahead of the IPL 2021, Axar was in the news, having done extremely well against England in his debut Test series. However, just before the start of the season, he was unfortunately tested positive with COVID-19. He was immediately isolated and proper precautions were taken. Due to this, he has not played any of the four matches Delhi Capitals has played.

The video was uploaded by Capitals on their social media profiles from their official pages. In the video, Axar was seen moving around the hotel, as he jokingly says that he needs a saloon before he can shoot any video.

Ishant and Axar then met Patrick Farhat, who is the physiotherapist of the Delhi Capitals team. For a brief moment, we also saw Ravichandran Ashwin, who has been leading the spin-attack of Capitals in this season. In the first three matches, due to Axar’s absence and the nature of the Mumbai pitch, Delhi played only one spinner in Ashwin.
In their last match in Chennai-leg in IPL 2021 against Mumbai, Delhi opted to play with Amit Mishra, the veteran leg-spinner. He returned with a four-wicket haul. Now, it will be interesting to see if Delhi will bring in Axar for their match against Sunrisers on Sunday, April 25. The conditions will suit his style of bowling and he is a capable batsman as well.
