IPL 2021: DC vs MI Preview – IPL 2020 finalists confront each other in Chennai

Delhi Capitals will change their base as they take on Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2021 league match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 20. Delhi will be coming into this match with a positive mindset having won two of three matches in Mumbai before this. But, Mumbai Indians having played at the Chennai surface will surely have an advantage of understanding the tricky wicket more than Delhi.

On top of that, Mumbai has won two consecutive matches on this surface from situations where they didn’t look like the favourites. Having said that, the stakes for Delhi to win this match will be higher, seeking revenge for their loss in the final of the last year’s tournament. Mumbai will be favourites in this contest as well, but a lot will depend on the toss.

Match Info

IPL 2021 Match 13 – Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians

Venue: MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai

Time: 7:30 PM IST

Head to head:

Stat Attack:

Ravichandran Ashwin is 1 wicket away from completing 250 wickets across T20s.

With 71 more runs, Shikhar Dhawan will be the leading run-getter vs MI. Currently, Dhawan is 3rd highest run-getter with 748 runs behind AB de Villers – 774 and Suresh Raina – 818.

Team News:

Delhi Capitals: Delhi Capitals will be quite confident after their win against Punjab in the previous match. However, it is worth noting that they made two changes for that game. Lukman Meriwala played ahead of Tom Curran, while Ajinkya Rahane was replaced with Steve Smith. With Anrich Nortje sitting in the wings, it seems that a chance will be coming his way soon. Chris Woakes and Kagiso Rabada should keep their spots for the Chennai game as well, considering their forms and stature. Delhi might want to bring in a spinner for the match in Chennai, to support Ravichandran Ashwin. Hence, don’t be surprised if you see Amit Mishra coming in place of Meriwala.

Mumbai Indians: Adam Milne was brought into the team in the previous match in place of Marco Jensen, the young South African pacer. Milne bowled three overs for 33 runs and failed to pick a wicket. It will be slightly weird if Mumbai decide to drop him just after one match. Other than that, there are three overseas spots booked for Quinton de Kock, Kieron Pollard and Trent Boult and there is no doubt that MI will continue with the trio. The rest of the pool of Indian players are also unlikely to be tinkered with.
