IPL 2021: Ashwin and Dhawan engage in a hilarious banter over orange and purple cap
Delhi Capitals’ opener Shikhar Dhawan, on Sunday, played a fantastic knock of 92 runs from just 49 balls against Punjab Kings. His knock ensured that Delhi stayed well on course during their run chase at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After his match-winning performance, the Delhi batter was seen chatting with his teammate Ravi Ashwin in an interview.
The clip of the interview was uploaded on social media. During the interaction, Dhawan revealed why it has been easy for the batsmen to score at the Wankhede Stadium. He said that the bounce on this surface is quite true, allowing the batsmen to score easily. After this, Ashwin joked that he is happy now as the team’s next few matches are in Chennai, where spinners have enjoyed bowling so far in the IPL 2021.
Ashwin also complimented Dhawan saying that the orange cap was looking good on him. To this, the dynamic batter said, “I guess all the colors look good on me.” Ashwin said, “This sense of self-appreciation has not gone.”
The southpaw is currently holding onto the orange cap after his knock of 92. He has 186 runs in three innings of the tournament, which is 10 runs more than the second-best Glenn Maxwell.

In the video which was uploaded on IPLT20.com, Ashwin and Dhawan were seen engaging in a banter. A certain clip of the interview was further posted on Twitter from the official social media page of the Indian Premier League.
In the video, Ashwin jokingly said, “Orange cap, looks good on you, as we move to Chennai, I would want it to change to magenta, purple.” Dhawan was quick to respond, asking him if the off-spinner doesn’t want the purple cap. “Purple? You won’t want that,” Dhawan said laughing, referencing the point that purple cap is given to bowlers with most wickets.
