IPL 2021: Rashid Khan reveals the reason behind SRH’s consistent success
PL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad is known for their consistent performance in the Indian Premier League. SRH became the titleholder for the first time in 2016 and since then has been a regular feature in the Top 4 on the points table. Afghanistan’s leg-spinner Rashid Khan made his debut in IPL with the Orange Army and has been associated with the franchise since the 2017 edition.
Speaking about the secret of Hyderabad’s success in the T20 Extravaganza, the leg-spinner revealed that the team never sets the goal or starts thinking about the playoffs or the finals from the first game only. Rashid revealed that the entire squad works as a unit and believes in thinking about just one game at a time.
“Actually, as a team, we never set the goals for us as to where we have to finish and all that. We take one game at a time and we try our best to do well in that game. If we have a set big goal, then it can affect our plans and small aspects in a particular game. Whoever we play, we take that game and tell ourselves we have to deliver on the day.
“That’s the beauty of the team. We have been in the playoffs a lot because we never think about the playoffs or the final. We always think about what we have to do on a particular day and we plan according to the opposition. Last year, we had 3 big games against Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore. We had to win against them and we did,” Rashid Khan said while speaking to India Today.
The best thing about this team is everyone tries to make the job easy for the others: Rashid Khan
Further, the 22-year-old reckoned that the SRH side is driven to make things easier for everyone else as they feel happy with the achievements of other players. The Afghan spinner asserted that everyone is looking forward to making the job of other people easier because if the batting side performs well, then it becomes easier for the bowling unit to chase the target.
“With David Warner, as a bowler, he makes our job easier when he is scoring and contributing. The best thing about this team is everyone tries to make the job easy for the others. That’s what we do in this team,” Rashid added.
“Similarly in the bowling department, If Nattu comes and picks up wickets, it makes my job easier. If Sandeep and Bhuvi pick up wickets, it makes my job easier. Because the batsman is already under pressure when I come into bowl,” he said.
