SA vs IND: Visitors receive a warm welcome in Cape Town

Having travelled in a chartered flight, the Indian team members arrived in Cape Town for the final Test, and the players received a grand welcome at the hotel. The series is levelled at 1-1 after South Africa pulled off one of the record chases in the Johannesburg Test and made proceedings more interesting ahead of the third Test.

India’s regular skipper Virat Kohli is also expected to return for the upcoming Test as he had to take a rest in the second game due to a back spasm. When the visitors’ players were entering the hotel, the music band would have given them a lot of smiles as they have been under serious restrictions for a while now.

With the Covid-19 restrictions in place, the first two Tests had to take place under closed doors without any fans in attendance. The training sessions for the third Test will also take place in a bio-bubble atmosphere as the surge in cases has created a lot of panic in the country already.

BCCI shares a video of India’s grand welcome on Instagram

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on social media had shared a video of the Indian team travelling in a chartered flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town. The short video also included the grand welcome for India at the Cape Town hotel with a lot of musicians playing traditional drums.

Meanwhile, the South African team has also arrived in Cape Town as their media manager had posted a photo of the Proteas landing in the city. The hosts made an excellent comeback in the Johannesburg Test after losing the first Test at Centurion, thanks to Dean Elgar who played a captain’s knock with an unbeaten 96 in the final innings.

The final Test starts on January 11 and all eyes will be on Indian skipper Virat Kohli who is expected to return after a rest in the second Test. India could end up making another change with Mohammed Siraj facing a hamstring niggle. Either Umesh Yadav or Ishant Sharma could get a look in.
