ICC has named the nominees for the Women’s T20I Player of the Year award. Tammy Beaumont from England, Gaby Lewis from Ireland, Smriti Mandhana from India, and Nat Sciver from England feature in the list.

Tammy Beaumont is the only player to also feature as a nominee for the Women’s ODI Player of the Year award. Beaumont made 303 runs in nine T20Is this year at an average of 33.66 and a strike rate of 108.60, including three half-centuries.

She made the most runs for England in T20Is this year and also won the player of the series award against New Zealand at the start of the year when she made 102 runs in three matches. In September when New Zealand traveled to England, she again dominated the opponent by scoring 97 runs in the first match of the three-match series.

Gaby Lewis, the 20-years-old player from Ireland, made 325 runs in ten matches at an average of 40.62 and a strike rate of 128.45. Her stats include a century and one half-century. Lewis, who made her T20I debut at an age of 13, has made 995 runs in 48 T20Is for Ireland. She helped Ireland beat Scotland by a 3-1 margin and won the player of the match award twice in the series. On August 26, 2021, she made a century against Germany and became the first player from Ireland to achieve this feat.

Smriti Mandhana – Only Indian to feature in ICC Awards List

India didn’t have a good year as the team won only two out of nine games. Mandhana made 255 runs in nine T20Is this year at an average of 31.87 and a strike rate of 131.44, including two half-centuries. She played a major role in India’s win against South Africa when she made 48 runs off 28 balls.

Mandhana was India’s leading run-scorer in the T20I series against England with 119 runs. But the other Indian batters couldn’t find the same rhythm as her. She made 52 runs against Australia in the last T20I of the year but failed to take the team over the line as India lost the match by 14 runs.

Nat Sciver made 153 runs in nine matches at an average of 19.12 including one half-century. With the ball, Sciver picked ten wickets at an average of 20.2 and an economy of 6.51. Her best performance with the bat came against India in July when she made 55 runs off 50 balls. She picked a four-wicket haul against New Zealand in September.
