Ashes 2021-22: AUS name unchanged squad for remaining Test matches

The Ashes

Pat Cummins and fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will rejoin the Australian Test squad for the remaining three matches of the Ashes series. Both these players had missed the 2nd Test.

While Cummins had missed out after coming into contact with a Covid-19 positive person ahead of the Test match, Hazlewood was ruled out due to a hamstring injury. So, Australia have named an unchanged squad for the rest of The Ashes series.

The same was confirmed by Cricket Australia. “Australia has named an unchanged 15-man squad for the remaining Vodafone Ashes Test matches in Melbourne, Sydney and Hobart. Australia has a travel day and rest days on Tuesday and Wednesday,” read the statement released by Cricket Australia.

Australia on the verge of victory in the 2nd Test match at Adelaide

Australia have dominated the England side in The Ashes series so far. After decimating the Joe Root led outfit by 9 wickets at The Gabba in the 1st Test, the Aussies are on the verge of victory in the 2nd Test at the Adelaide Oval as well.

Australia posted a total of 473 in their first innings and England replied with a total of 236. The kangaroos did not enforce the follow-on and declared their second innings with their scorecard reading 230/9, and set England a mammoth target of 468 for victory.

At the time of writing, England are reeling at 142/6, and the kangaroos are 4 wickets away from victory. The 3rd Ashes Test match will begin on 26th December 2021 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
