Highest individual score of batsmen from the top eight ODI teams

India

Cricket is indeed one of the most popular sports worldwide with lovers of the game being worldwide. While only Test cricket existed initially, white-ball games were introduced in 1970’s and the shorter version didn’t take long in gaining popularity. At first, a One-Day International match comprised 60-overs per side.

However, 10 overs from each innings were shredded later in order to make matches crisper. Meanwhile, cracking the nut in ODI cricket isn’t as easy as it might seem. Batters are required to stay in the middle for a substantial amount of time. However, they can’t afford to play with a low strike rate. Notably, ODI cricket has witnessed several marathon knocks over the years.

Meanwhile, let’s look at the highest individual score of top 8 ODI teams ever: –

Jason Roy – England – 180

Jason Roy made a mockery of Australian bowlers in the Melbourne ODI in 2018. The opener put up a batting exhibition and slammed a fiery 180.

Australia –  Shane Watson – 185

Shane Watson scored runs for fun when Australia met Bangladesh in a 2011 ODI in Dhaka. The dasher scored runs all over the park and slammed a match-winning 185.

South Africa – Gary Kirsten – 188

South Africa has produced numerous batting stalwarts over the years. However, none of them could play a bigger ODI knock than Gary Kirsten’s 188 against UAE in 1996.

Sri Lanka – Sanath Jayasuriya – 189

While Sanath Jayasuriya played numerous scintillating knocks during his sensational career, his 189 against India in Sharjah has to be head and shoulders above all.

Gayle isn’t the only southpaw to slam a double ton against Zimbabwe. Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman also reached the magical 200-run mark in 2018. He overall scored 210 in that contest.
