Ashes 2021-22: Anderson, Broad ready for 2nd Test – Chris Silverwood

Anderson

The 2nd Ashes Test between Australia and England will be played on 16th December 2021 at Adelaide, and will be a day-night affair. Ahead of the marquee clash, England coach Chris Silverwood has revealed that fast bowling legends James Anderson and Stuart Broad are fit to play.

Silverwood also revealed that the England pacers have already started training with the pink ball. Adding that the Joe Root-led side has skillful bowlers in their arsenal, the England coach said that Anderson and Broad are still two of the best in the business.

“They are available, yes. Jimmy will be fit and ready to go for the second Test, as will Stuart. [But] I have not told anyone they are playing yet. The guys have already been training with the pink ball behind the scenes. And what we have got is a very skilful set of bowlers. We have talent and we still have two of the best up our sleeve as well,” said Silverwood as quoted by The Guardian.

Josh Hazlewood ruled out of 2nd Test

Meanwhile, Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will not take part in the 2nd Test after suffering a side strain in at the Gabba. The right-arm fast bowler picked up a total of 3 wickets as Australia decimated England to register a thumping 9-wicket win and took a 1-0 series lead.
