IPL 2022 Retention: When and Where to Watch in India
The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be a 10-team affair, with 2 new teams from Lucknow and Ahmedabad joining in. And, all the IPL franchises will have to get their thinking caps on as the mega auction is scheduled to be held ahead of IPL 2022.
All the 8 existing IPL franchises will have to give the list of players that they would like to retain ahead of the 15th edition of the IPL by 30th November 2021. Also, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clearly stated that the franchises can retain a maximum of 4 players, with a maximum of 2 of them being overseas players.

Also, after the existing franchises have decided on the list of retained players, all the other players will be released. And, the 2 new IPL franchises that have joined the fray from Lucknow and Ahmedabad will then get a chance to choose 3 players that they would like to buy from this list of released players before the mega auctions are held.
What is the amount that each retained player will get?
Now, what is the amount that each retained player will get? If a franchise retains just one player ahead of the auctions, then that player will be paid a sum of INR 14 Crores. If 2 players are retained by an IPL franchise, then the first retained player is slated to be paid a sum of INR 14 Crores, while the second retained player will get INR 10 Crores.
If 3 players are retained, then they will be paid a sum of INR 15 Crores, INR 11 Crores and INR 7 Crores respectively. And, if a franchise uses up its quota and retains 4 players, then the first player who is retained will be paid INR 16 Crores. While the second player who is retained will draw a salary of INR 12 Crores, the 3rd and 4th retained players will get an amount of INR 8 Crores and INR 6 Crores respectively.
