All of us are looking forward to Rahul Dravid’s guidance: Cheteshwar Pujara
The Indian side is all set to face New Zealand in the two-match Test series commencing on November 25 in Kanpur. After grabbing the T20I series in a full-fledged manner, the home side would be eager to cash on the opportunities on their home soil in the Test games too. They will now also have the guidance of legendary Rahul Dravid and Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara opened up on the same lines.
Pujara added that Dravid’s presence will help youngsters a lot and he himself is looking forward to his guidance. Pujara stated how he has worked with the head coach during U-19 and India A days which was a fruitful experience. The batter backed Dravid’s experience to help the team put its best action.
“It will help most of the players, especially young players who have worked with Rahul Bhai during U-19 and India A days. Even experienced players like us, I have played with Rahul Bhai. I have worked with him during the A-series, so all of us are looking forward to his guidance. The amount of experience he has as a player and coach of the team, helps,” said Pujara while speaking to TOI.
My job is to bat well for the team and it’s not that I haven’t been getting runs: Cheteshwar Pujara
Moving further in the conversation, Pujara was asked about his concerns over not getting a century since January 2019. The batter stated that he is really not worried for a ton specifically if he is getting 80s and 90s which is helping the team’s cause. Pujara remains to be the crucial wheel of India’s Test batting setup and is deemed as the modern-day wall. It remains to be seen how he will stand up against the Kiwis.
“As far as my hundred is concerned, when it has to happen it will happen. My job is to bat well for the team and it’s not that I haven’t been getting runs. I have got 80s and 90s. As long as I am batting well and contributing to the team, I am not bothered about my hundred. It’s a matter of one inning,” he added.
