Kishan, Deepak Chahar set to join India A squad in South Africa

Ishan Kishan

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has added Ishan Kishan and Deepak Chahar to the India A squad for the 4-day Tests against South Africa A. Both players are currently in Kolkata for the third and final T20I against the New Zealand. It is likely that Shardul Thakur could also be added to the squad.

South Africa A and India A will be involved in an unofficial Test series that will commence on 23rd November, 2021. The side will be led by Priyank Panchal. Sitanshu Kotak will perform the duties of head coach while Sairaj Bahutule will act as the bowling coach. T Ghosh will be the fielding coach of the India A side.

The 14-member squad was announced on November 9 by the Chetan Sharma-led selection panel. Kishan and Chahar’s inclusion comes after a late call to add Hanuma Vihari was taken by the panel. Kishan will be the only wicket-keeper apart from the designated Upendra Yadav, who is likely to play ahead. Chahar will bolster the pace bowling unit that features Navdeep Saini, Umran Malik, Ishan Porel and Arzan Nagwaswalla.
