T20 schedule for 2022 Commonwealth Games announced
India and Australia are set to lock horns in the opener on Friday, July 29 as women’s cricket is set to make its debut in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The cricket matches will take place over nine days with the final scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 7. The last time cricket took place in the CWG was back during the 1998 edition in Kuala Lumpur.
This time, the tournament will take place in the T20 format. In the opening day, Pakistan and Barbados will also cross swords. Australia, India, Barbados and Pakistan form a part of Group A. New Zealand, South Africa, England and a qualifier form Group B.
Seven out of the eight qualifying teams were already named back in April. The final team of the tournament will be announced by the end of January. The announcement of the schedule comes just a few weeks before tickets go out for sale.
