We need to adapt to the conditions quickly in order to dominate India: Tim Southee
India has developed as a cricketing giant in the Test over the years with only a single loss coming in near times. The Test loss happened to be in 2012-13 against England and since then, India have been formidable at home. What India showcased against Australia in the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy became a talk of the town for a long time and then India defeated England clinically at home in February this year.
After the completion of T20 WC 2021, India is all set to lock horns with New Zealand with T20Is followed by Test games. The first Test is to be played from November 25 in Kanpur and Kiwi pacer Tim Southee added they need to adapt quickly to the conditions in order to get better of India.
“It’s been a long time since we played India in India. they are a powerhouse in their own conditions. Such foreign conditions we are not used to, so we need to adapt to the conditions as quickly as possible. It’s certainly been a challenge over the last 6-8 months around. Different series, different countries, and being away from home in bubble life, so it’s not easy. You try and separate them as much as you can. It’s a massive learning process,” said Southee in a press conference.
There is something special about Test cricket: Tim Southee
It is known that New Zealand has a great record against India in ICC events and the latest one being their victory in the final of WTC. However, Southee feels that they need to get over the past cycle now and gear up for the new cycle. Southee added that he feels great to be part of the side that has enjoyed immense success in Test cricket in the last years.
“New cycle is exciting. A great place to go on tour and test yourself against very good opposition and in trying conditions. It’s great to be part of the last cycle. We hit the reset button and looking forward to the next 2-year cycle. There is something special about Test cricket. It’s incredible to be part of the Test side. Over the last number of years, the success we had not only at home but overseas has been incredible to be part of,” added Southee.
