T20 WC 2021: SA vs SL Preview – Stuttering sides aim to stay strong for semifinal spot
South Africa and Sri Lanka are all set to take on each other in the Super 12 game at Sharjah on October 30. This should be a crucial game, especially for the Lankan lions. Group 1 has been called the ‘group of death’ and each & every game is quite crucial. South Africa started their campaign with a close loss against Australia but bounced back well to defeat West Indies.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, found the Aussies too hot to handle after defeating the Bangladesh team in their first main round game. Both the teams would be looking for these two points as they can calculate their best chances against each other. By no means are these two sides perfect, but that is what could just make this a contest to watch out for.
Match Info
South Africa vs Sri Lanka, 25th Match, Super 12 Group 1
Venue: Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah
Time: 3:30 PM IST
Head to head:
In the three T20 World Cup games, South Africa have won two (2012 and 2016) contests while Sri Lanka have won only one (2014).
Team News:
South Africa: Quinton de Kock had missed the previous match as he didn’t want to take the knee. However, after issuing an apology on that front, he is expected to take the knee and also get a game. Heinrich Klaasen might just be left out for his up and down form while Reeza Hendricks could be slotted slightly lower down the order.
Sri Lanka: Maheesh Theekshana was the only injury concern which Sri Lanka had and now that he is fit and ready, they should have no more issues with the injury. Rest of the XI should remain the same. However, coach Mickey Arthur had hinted at some changes, so don’t be surprised if there are any.
