WATCH: Avesh Khan’s searing yorker to peg back Hardik Pandya’s leg stump

Delhi Capitals pacer Avesh Khan has been exceptional, to say the least in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has impressed one and all with his pace and is also boasting of excellent variations up his sleeves. Avesh continued his good job with the ball against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Saturday returning with the magical figures of 3/15 in his four overs.

He picked wickets of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Nathan Coulter-Nile and bowled superbly to restrict MI to a below-par total. Among the three wickets he scalped, the yorker that he bowled to Hardik was brilliant. It was the 19th over of the innings and the MI all-rounder had the momentum on his side having scored a couple of boundaries in the previous over.

No wonder Hardik was in the mood to smack the ball out of the boundary. Avesh Khan steamed in to deliver the first ball even as the batsman shuffled to cover for a possible wide yorker. But much to Hardik’s surprise, Avesh went for a pacy yorker into his legs. The line was so perfect from the bowler that Hardik couldn’t do much apart from looking at his leg-stump which was pegged back.

It was a huge wicket at the time for the Capitals as Hardik Pandya has the ability to take the game away from the opposition in the death overs. Avesh Khan continued to have a great day as he castled Coulter-Nile in the same over to pick a three-fer in the innings.

Axar Patel also bowled well for DC

Apart from Avesh Khan, it was Axar Patel who tied down the Mumbai batsmen in the middle overs. The left-arm spinner scalped wickets of Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav and Saurabh Tiwary to leave MI reeling after the powerplay. Despite having power-hitters like Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya, the five-time champions couldn’t score much in the end as they finished with only 129 runs on the board.
