Ravi Shastri calls MS Dhoni the greatest white-ball captain ever

Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has termed MS Dhoni as the greatest white-ball captain ever to have played the game. Dhoni has won the ICC trophy in every format and India made it to the No.1 position in Tests for the first time under his leadership only. Moreover, his finishing ability made him a key player for the country for a lot of years before he decided to hang his boots last year in August.

Shastri also highlighted MS Dhoni’s achievements in his career while proving his point. Rather the 59-year-old believes no one is even close to the former India skipper when it comes to the white-ball cricket.

“Dhoni is the greatest white-ball captain ever. Just look at his record in ICC tournaments. What has he not won? IPL, Champions League, all ICC tournaments, two World Cups. There is no one close to him when it comes to white-ball cricket. He has to be the greatest. The King Kong, you can call him in that fashion,” Shastri said while speaking to Fancode.

CSK wouldn’t want to lose the momentum, says Ravi Shastri

As far as the ongoing IPL is concerned, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), under MS Dhoni‘s captaincy, have made it to the playoffs for the 11th time in 12 seasons. They will face Rajasthan Royals on Saturday evening and many reckon the Men in Yellow will rest a few players having qualified for the playoffs already. But Shastri doesn’t think like that as he feels CSK would not want to lose the momentum.

“The ball is in CSK’s court, how they want to play. They have qualified, they are going to finish 1 or 2, there is no question about that. It’s how Dhoni sees it. Does he want to rest players or does he want to try one or two players for the game? The endeavor would be to win. They would start as favorites, but no one likes to lose momentum,” the India head coach further added.
