Eoin Morgan opens up on his altercation with Ravichandran Ashwin

Things heated up out in the middle in the clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) sides. After Ravichandran Ashwin was dismissed by Tim Southee during the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) innings for 9 runs, both Southee and Ashwin were involved in an exchange of words.

KKR captain Eoin Morgan too, joined in, and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik played the role of peacemaker before things got out of hand. And now, the normally calm Eoin Morgan has opened up on the incident.

Morgan stated that both sides played ‘hard’ cricket, and sometimes things can boil over, especially on a hot day. The KKR captain added that both sides played the game in the right spirit.

“Both sides played the game hard. On a hot day, things can boil over. Thankfully it didn’t. We all played in the right spirit,” said Eoin Morgan during the post-match ceremony.

Full credit has to go to our coach Brendon McCullum: Eoin Morgan

Eoin Morgan further opined that full credit for KKR’s performance against Rishabh Pant and his boys should be given to KKR coach Brendon McCullum. Morgan concluded by stating that it was McCullum’s ethos that the KKR cricketers brought onto the field.

“And its a tough contest against Delhi Capitals. Full credit has to go to our coach Brendon McCullum. Its his ethos, his mindset, and the boys have bought into that,” concluded Morgan.

The KKR side beat the Delhi outfit with 3 wickets and 10 balls to spare. Sunil Narine won the Player of the Match award for his all-rounder performance. While Narine scalped 2 wickets with the ball, he also scored a whirlwind 21* off just 10 deliveries with the willow as well.

Eoin Morgan and his men are now placed at the 4th spot in the IPL points table, having emerged triumphant in 5 out of the 11 matches that they have played. Next up, the KKR outfit will lock horns with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) side in the 45th match of the tournament. This clash will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 1st October 2021.
