IPL 2021: KKR vs DC Preview – Kolkata face Delhi challenge on their path to playoffs

Delhi vs Kolkata

Kolkata Knight Riders are all set to take on Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, September 28, in Sharjah. Both the teams are coming into this game with some positivity, Delhi more so than Kolkata. Delhi confirmed their place in the playoff in the previous match by beating Rajasthan Royals comfortably in Abu Dhabi. Now, they would be looking for their ninth win.

Kolkata on the other hand are coming into this match after a heartbreaking loss against Chennai Super Kings. They lost that game in the very last ball of the match. What is also an issue for them is the fact that was their sixth loss in 10 matches. Another loss will push them further into trouble but it is worth noting that Delhi has had a wood over them in the last couple of matches.

Team News:

Kolkata Knight Riders: KKR have now played with the same XI in three consecutive games now and they might just stick with the same combination. However, that is under a bit of threat given the fact that Andre Russell had limped off the ground in the previous match. There are some doubts over his fitness. If KKR don’t play him, they do have a couple of players who can come straight in. Ben Cutting is a good option, but how much Kolkata can trust him as a four-over bowler is up for debate. They also have Shakib Al Hasan within their camp.

Delhi Capitals: Marcus Stoinis has been a crucial player for Delhi Capitals in the last couple of seasons. He adds to the balance of the side and takes their finishing job up with both hands. But, his hamstring niggle or injury might just disrupt that. Lalit Yadav came into the XI in his place in the previous match and did a fair enough job. But this meant DC fielded only three overseas players. Steve Smith still finds himself in the dugout, but Delhi can’t find a spot to play him.
