Dale Steyn and AB de Villiers engage in a funny Twitter banter
The whole world knows about the friendship between Dale Steyn and AB de Villiers. The two have played almost their entire international careers together and have been regarded as two legendary sports figures in South Africa. The two were seen in some battles at the Indian Premier League as well when at their peaks they had abilities that make up for a great contest.
However, after India beat England at the Oval in the fourth Test by a margin of 157 runs, a tweet from Steyn saw them disagreeing on something. Though it was all fun and games between the two legends, the Twitter fans witnessed how their conversations with each other usually are.
The incident started when Steyn watching the effort of the Indian bowling attack tweeted, “Batters wow the crowd, Bowlers win you games.” Now coming from one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time, that wasn’t too surprising. But his batter friend ABD was not having any of that. He didn’t say much and posted a smiley, which has a man looking through a magnifying glass.
Steyn understood that his comment might not sit well with his dear friend, who happens to be a batter. He commented back trying to keep it in good spirit and wrote, “Haha! Besides you! but Bumrah was pretty special yesterday #nodrawswithspellslikethat”

The recently retired fast bowler was referring to the spell by Jasprit Bumrah on the fifth day of the Oval Test which is accounted to be a key turning point in the game. The 27-year-old pacer bowled a spell with figures of 6-3-6-2 after lunch when he got the old ball to reverse a bit and managed to bowl two key English batters, Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow.
On a wicket that was extremely flat, Indian pacer Bumrah produced a spell for the ages, which turned the game completely on its head. His spell started a collapse which led England to be bowled out for 210 from being at 141 for 2 at one point.
ABD further replied to Steyn saying, “Well, next time maybe just say “well bowled, Bumrah?” He also joked that he was planning to buy one of the NFT put out by Steyn but doesn’t plan on doing so after Steyn posted this tweet.
