ENG vs IND: Pitch invader Daniel Jarvis arrested on suspicion of assault at The Oval

The Oval

Pitch invader Daniel Jarvis has finally been arrested for breaching the security at The Oval. He did it twice at Headingley in two innings and was banned for life from the venue and was also fined. On Friday, during the second day’s play, he came on to bowl with the same jersey he wore the last two times during the 34th over of England’s innings.

The invader’s third consecutive breach has raised serious questions over the ground security in England. At The Oval, Jarvo almost bowled the third delivery of the over before barging into Jonny Bairstow at the non-striker’s end. The batsman was clearly unaware of him running in and was shocked after Jarvis rammed into him.

The ground security had to rush in to take him away from the field. And this time, the concerned officials have taken serious action and arrested Jarvo for invading the pitch. He is currently in custody of South London police and it remains to be seen if any strict action is taken against him.

England take a 99-run lead in the first innings

As far as the ongoing Test is concerned, England are in the ascendancy having taken a crucial 99-run lead in the first innings. They were bundled out for 290  thanks to crucial contributions from their final five wickets and more importantly Ollie Pope and Chris Woakes who scored half-centuries.

The pitch has turned out to best for batting and India will be hoping to bat long in their second innings to set a challenging target for the hosts. But for that to happen, they will have to tackle a crucial first hour on the third day.
