I am surprised by the side New Zealand are sending for Bangladesh tour: Russell Domingo

New Zealand is all set to tour Bangladesh for their five-match T20I series against the home side but it has been noticed that many key players of Kiwis have not been named in the squad. None of their players named for the T20 World Cup have been picked for the Bangladesh tour. In the same light, Bangladesh coach Russell Domingo added that he is ‘surprised’ to see these kinds of tactics from the Blackcaps.

Domingo added their tour of Bangladesh could have made their practice better for the upcoming showpiece event (T20 WC). Domingo went on to say that he understands some players are gearing up for IPL and it’s the middle of the winter but these conditions would’ve been good for them going ahead in the big tournament.

“New Zealand got some really good players. Obviously, some players are going to the IPL and it’s the middle of the winter now. ‘I am surprised by the side they are sending… because they are sending none of the players who will be playing in the World Cup… these are good conditions to prepare for the World Cup,”

We still have a lot of work to do: Russell Domingo

Domingo further backed the performance of Bangladesh cricketers and stated that they have got a balanced side and it is good to see that their bowlers are performing so well. It has to be noted that Bangladesh recently scripted history by registering their first-ever series over Australia but their coach said that one shouldn’t be very critical of Australian players who couldn’t do well on Bangladesh’s soil.

“We are a good T20 side and I really believe we got some really good players there. I’m hoping this performance can give the public and the media a bit of confidence in the team so they can portray the team in a good light. We still have a lot of work to do but there is a really good sign of a good T20 side. I suppose our bowlers are really good and we know these conditions well,” added Domingo.
