Cricket Australia (CA) has finally decided on the 2021-22 Ashes series Down Under and has stated the England players can bring their families along during the five-match Test series. Earlier it was reported that few England players may not travel for the high-profile series owing to the Australian government’s strict COVID-19 protocols and norms. It was also reported for the same that the ECB, CA, and the Australian government will be having a discussion and a plan would be made soon.

Now with a decision in ECB’s favour, the Ashes series may well go as per plan and without any hiccups. With the five-match Test series between Australia and England being a long series, few experts like Michael Vaughan and Kevin Pietersen decided that the Ashes should be called off if England players are not allowed to with the families Down Under.

However, according to inews.co.uk, the CA is now forced to alter its plan and wants to ensure there is smooth conduct of the Ashes series so that they don’t endure any financial loss. With the revenue amount and the viewership having a big say during the five Tests, Australia is trying to come with an ideal solution that will be beneficial for them as well as the England team.

Australia might resort to strict bio-bubble norms for England players

Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the cricket being played is not the same, as there are bio-bubble in place and quarantine norms are mandatory for all to follow. Australia though was one of the teams to have let fans watch from the stadium due to curb in cases. But it seems, during the past three months there has been a surge in positive cases, which has made the Australian government resort to a strict lockdown in some parts of the cities.

And hence the CA are not taking any risks whatsoever and might have a strict bio-bubble in place for England players. Even if the families are allowed to travel Down Under, there will be restrictions and a separate bio-bubble in place for the families. The Ashes is set to begin from December 8 and set to conclude on January 18.
