Aravinda de Silva responds to Dinesh Chandimal’s grievances letter
It is a known fact that Sri Lankan cricket is going through some of its darkest hours in the current times where nothing is going right for them. Neither the national team is able to win matches anywhere nor the senior players are in agreement with SLC over their annual contracts and a lot of issues have been going around that too.
In the same line of events, Lanka cricketer Dinesh Chandimal wrote a letter to Cricket Committee Chairman Aravinda de Silva to offer some help and discuss his future in the national team. In the latest turn of events, De Silva has responded to the letter written to him by the cricketer. He has asked the SLC to direct the same letter to National Cricket Selectors as the mentioned grievances are their area of concern.
I have requested SLC to channel Dinesh Chandiman’s letter to selectors, says De Silva
“Yes, a letter was addressed to me by Dinesh Chandimal. I have requested the SLC to channel it to the selectors who will have to sturdy the content of the letter and take a final decision. As our task is very clear and not related to players’ selection,” said De Silva as quoted by Daily news.
It has to be noted at this point that when Chandimal made his debut in the Sri Lanka cricket team, he was expected to be one of the assets of the team in the future. However, the same didn’t happen. He last toured with the team when Lanka travelled to West Indies earlier this year but he showed up with unimpressive knocks and was dropped further. However, he wrote this letter to SLC to discuss his further future in the team which he felt is crucial at this moment.
Dinesh Chandimal opens up in his letter
“My performance statistics and my health statistics indicate I am more than capable of performing at the highest level at the moment,” Chandimal said in the letter. “I am certain given the opportunity, I will be able to perform as expected and contribute towards Sri Lanka cricket in a positive manner. I would like to discuss my future with Sri Lanka cricket and as this is my profession, at this juncture it is very important for me to make the correct and most informed decisions for my future,” he had stated.
