ENG vs PAK: ODI Series, Stats review – Babar’s milestone, England’s novelty and more
England registered a dominating series win against Pakistan by 3-0. They put up a terrific performance even when the majority of the main players did not take part in the series. On the other hand, it was a disappointing loss for Pakistan who could not put up a fight against the inexperienced home side. In the third ODI, England successfully chased down the target of 332 runs with the help of a superb century from James Vince.

7 – Pakistan have now lost 7 consecutive ODI matches against England in the bilateral series. In fact, in the last 22 ODI matches of bilateral series played against England, the Pakistan team have won just 2 games.
2 – Babar Azam’s score of 158 was the second-highest ODI score for a Pakistan batsman in a losing cause. Fakhar Zaman who struck 193 runs against South Africa earlier this year is on the top of the stack. His team lost that match by 17 runs.
1 – Azam is the quickest to complete 14 ODI hundreds in terms of innings (81). Babar surpassed many stalwarts in this regard including Hashim Amla (84 innings), David Warner (98) and Virat Kohli (103).
1 – In the last 12 ODI bilateral series played at home, England have now won 11 and have been defeated in only one series. That loss was against Australia in September 2020.
3 – England’s chase of 332 in the third game was the third-highest ODI chase by any team against Pakistan. The other two top records also belong to the England team.
5 – England handed a debut to 5 players in the first game. This is the most debutants used by them in an ODI since the match against Ireland in 2015.
5 – Brydon Carse picked up 5 wickets for 61 runs in the third match. He became the first England bowler to pick a fifer in an ODI at Edgbaston.
