India’s skipper and one of the most celebrated women’s cricketers around the world Mithali Raj stated that she is still looking forward to leveling up her batting. She made her debut 22 years back and her quest to gather runs under her belt still remains on. In the recent turn of events, she added that she is looking up to add ‘new dimensions’ to her batting ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

It has to be noted that on July 3, Mithali became the highest run-getter across all formats as she led India to a satisfactory four-wicket win over England. While leading India to a win in the last and final ODI against England women, the accomplished skipper of India played an unbeaten knock of 75 runs off 86 balls.

The way things have gone it wasn’t an easy journey. It had its trials and challenges. I always believed that trials have a purpose. There were times when I wanted to give up for various reasons but something kept me going and here I am 22 years of international cricket but the hunger for runs have never sort of dried up,” stated Raj about her cricketing journey that began in 1999.

I am still very passionate to go out there and win games for India: Mithali Raj

However, she also made it clear that she is still in search of some more runs from her bat. Though she has already big goodbye to the T20 format, she is looking to make her 2022 World Cup a big affair. In the same line, in her post-match presser, she talked about adding new dimensions to her batting.

I am still very passionate to go out there, be there in the middle, and win games for India. I know there is still room for improvements in terms of my batting and that is something I am working on… There are certain dimensions I would like to add to my batting,” she concluded.

India women lost their one-off Test against England and the subsequent ODI series by 1-2 on Saturday, July 3.
