Jadeja has bowled exceptionally well against left-handers: David Warner

Ravindra Jadeja

Cricket fans worldwide have marked their calendars with the ICC World Test Championship final just around the corner. India and New Zealand are the two teams that will lock horns in the summit clash, which gets underway on June 18 at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. With the encounter holding such great significance, many prominent players and experts have presented their views on probable winners, team combinations, and other things.

Dashing Australian opener David Warner is the latest one to join the bandwagon. In an interaction, the southpaw opined on India’s best playing XI and said both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin should take the field. Further highlighting Jadeja’s importance, Warner said that the left-arm spinner can consistently hit a particular length consistently, which could trouble the Kiwis in the WTC final.

Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin can trouble New Zealand batsmen: David Warner

“Over time Jadeja has bowled exceptionally well against left-handers. There only has to be one little footmark that could be the size of a roti, and he will hit that consistently. They are going to be troubled with those two spinners, I feel,” Warner told Sports Today.

Notably, conditions in England aren’t known to favour spinners much. Still, many experts have recommended Team India to go with both Ashwin and Jadeja owing to their three-dimensional abilities. Hence, it would be interesting to see what combination Virat Kohli and the team management would select for the ultimate encounter.

Meanwhile, one can expect a cracker of the contest in the WTC final, with India and New Zealand doing exceptionally well in red-ball cricket lately. These two sides are even holding the top two places in the ICC rankings. However, one must not forget many odds are in Blackcaps’ favour.

The conditions in England are pretty similar to that of New Zealand. Hence, adapting to the surroundings won’t be challenging for Kiwis. Moreover, they are playing hosts England in a two-match Test series ahead of the WTC final. On the contrary, Virat Kohli’s men haven’t got such luxury. They landed in England on June 3 and underwent a 10-day quarantine period. Hence, it would be interesting to see if they can defy the odds and disappoint the Kiwis.
