Virat Kohli is successful because he has a great self-belief: Rashid Khan
Virat Kohli has set the benchmark very high for his peers and future generation of cricketers. Such has been the consistency of Indian skipper to amass runs at a ridiculous pace, that it has left everyone with no choice but to stand and applaud the modern-day legend. Rashid Khan too is in awe of Kohli’s work ethics and his dedication towards always striving to get better.
The Afghanistan star spinner was effusive in praise of the Indian skipper’s meticulous planning and pacing of innings which often helps India chase the target with relative ease. Rashid Khan also mentioned how discipline Kohli is treating the good balls and his patience to target the bowlers when he is set.
Many former cricketers and experts have already told the youngsters to follow the template of Kohli to have a long and successful career.
“If there is any other batsman, he will come under pressure if you bowl well to him. He will play a shot which is not his strength, like sweep, a slog sweep or any other different stroke,” Rashid said on the Youtube show ‘Cricast’.

The 22-year-old legspinner also pointed out Kohli’s clear thinking on what he has to achieve regarding any big upcoming tournament or matches. The Indian skipper’s rise to become the top player comes down to the discipline which he possesses.
“But Virat will follow his own process. He goes with his mind. He has his own style and he goes with that. He doesn’t do anything different. I think that is why he is very successful. He has a process.”
“He will respect good balls. He will punish loose balls. He has great self-belief. Some batsmen don’t have self-belief. That is why they struggle. He believes in his own strength,” Rashid added.
Kohli will soon be seen in action in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final (WTC) against New Zealand. Team India has reached England and are all set to play the marquee clash on June 18 in Southampton. The talismanic Indian skipper has been instrumental in India making it to the finals of WTC and without a doubt, will once again be the vital cog for team India in the finale.
