Williamson is experienced & knows how to play on English conditions: Parthiv Patel
The high-profile event World Test Championship is all set to commence from June 18 and India and New Zealand would be putting their best forward to seal the glory. However, as the marquee event is inching closer, there are a lot of discussions coming up one after the other. In the same light, former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has lavished praise of New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson.
Patel added that both Virat Kohli and Williamson are equally important for India but the latter has a lot of experience under his belt playing in the English conditions. The former cricketer added that Kiwi skipper has sported his class many times against England and it will a big task to take his wicket in English conditions.
You’ve got to bowl really well against Kane Williamson: Patel
“What Virat Kohli is for India, we’re talking for Kane Williamson for New Zealand. Someone who is very experienced, someone who knows how to play on the English conditions, he has done really well against England in England, and plus his ability to play really late. I think, especially when you are playing in England, that makes a huge difference.
“You have got to play under your eye line all the time, so to get him out, you’ve got to bowl really well against him. You have to make sure you are hitting the areas more often than not. The ability which he has – with correct defense and is always decisive about his footwork,” stated Patel on Star Sports’ show GAME PLAN.
The Indian team is currently under strict quarantine at Ageas Bowl in Southampton. On the other hand, New Zealand is battling it out against England in a two-match Test series where the first game ended in a draw. While many are thinking that it will be a task for Virat Kohli’s men to tackle Blackcaps when they are already known to the conditions in England, Kohli had made it clear that that the tournament would be equally challenging for both teams.
