Net Worth of South Africa’s batting legend – AB de Villiers
Abraham Benjamin “AB” de Villiers is one of the best batsmen to have ever played the game at the highest level. Since making his debut for South Africa in 2004, the Bela-Bela born cricketer has redefined the conventions of batting. The kind of skills which he has shown through his career were never really seen by cricket fans. He has been often credited for his ability to score runs across the ground. His nickname Mr. 360 sums up his outstanding batting style and his ability to adapt himself to changing conditions.
The primary source of income
In 2018, he brought curtains down on his international career with South Africa after scoring a little over 20,000 runs, all formats combined. However, de Villiers, who was 34 at the time, continued playing in the T20 franchise leagues across the globe. If a player doesn’t hold a central contract from his national cricket board, his salary and income is generated through playing in these T20 leagues, which often offer quite lucrative deals.
Since his retirement, AB de Villiers has gone on to play in the Big Bash League in Australia, Bangladesh Premier League, Pakistan Super League and T20 Blast in England. He also featured for Tshwane Spartans in the Mzansi Super League, which is the premier T20 league in South Africa. His main source of income from playing cricket comes from these teams which he has represented. However, his most lucrative deal is still with the Indian Premier League team, Royal Challengers Bangalore. ABD has been with the franchise since 2011.
