Four India Women cricketers from the 2014 Test who are not part of the current Test team
Indian Women’s cricket team will be playing a Test match after a long gap of six years. This match will be played from 16th June against the England team. BCCI has already announced the squad for this match. However, some of the important players from the last Test of India in 2014 are missing in the current squad. In his article, we will be discussing those four players.
4. Thirush Kamini
Opener Thirush Kamini was instrumental in helping India win in their last Test. She played a magnificent knock of 192 runs off 430 balls in the first innings, including 24 fours and 1 six. She last played an international match for India back in 2017. She is currently working in Southern Railway in the personnel branch now and playing for Indian Railways.
3. Sushma Verma
Indian wicketkeeper Sushma Verma has been left out of the squad for the Test match. She did not make it into the ODI and T20I teams either. She was part of the 2014 Test which India won by an innings and 34 runs. She did not get a chance to bat in that game. Behind the wickets, she took 3 catches and effected 1 stumping.
Sushma could not do well with the bat in the ODI series against South Africa held in 2021. She scored only 15 runs in the three ODI games.
2. Rajeshwari Gayakwad
Rajeshwari Gayakwad has been one of the top-performing bowlers for India in recent times. She has been left out of the squad for England tour due to a knee injury. In the 2014 Test match against South Africa, she picked up 4 wickets in the first innings, and 1 wicket in the second innings.
Recently against South Africa, she was the joint-highest wicket-taker in the ODI series and won the player of the match award in the third T20I.
1. Niranjana Nagarajan
Indian pacer Niranjana Nagarajan last played an International match back in 2016. She has featured in a total of 36 matches for India across formats. Niranjana was part of the 2014 test in which she went wicket-less in both innings.
