Net worth of South Africa’s superstar: Faf du Plessis

A solid batter, smart leader, and one of the safest fielders, South Africa’s Francois du Plessis is a cricketer par excellence. Having made his debut for South Africa in 2011 in the Cape Town ODI against India, du Plessis has scored 5507 runs at an average of 47.47 with 12 centuries and 35 fifties in 143 games. If his numbers in the 50-over game are brilliant, Faf in Tests or T20Is is not behind.

Career highlights

He has represented the nation in 69 Tests, scoring 4163 runs at an average of over 40, including 10 centuries and 21 half-centuries, while in 50 T20Is, the right-hander has scored 1528 runs at 35.53 with a solitary century and 10 fifties. The South Africa stalwart bid a goodbye to the longest format of the game this year after his team clean-swept Sri Lanka in the home series 2-0.

He was in brilliant form in the now-suspended IPL, as he smacked 320 runs from just seven games at a staggering average and strike rate of 64 and 145.45 respectively. Faf was retained by the franchise for INR 1.6 Crore ahead of the 2020 edition of the IPL and he has only represented CSK and the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants in the league’s history. His two-year stint with RPS came during CSK’s suspension from the IPL during 2016-17.

Net worth

Apart from being a renowned international star, Faf has made his name in different short-format leagues, including the Indian Premier League, where he represents one of the most competitive teams, the Chennai Super Kings. Having been in the cricket world for nearly a decade, it goes without saying that Faf is a man of wealth. As per many reports, his net worth can be estimated to be around $ 14 million.

His net worth comprises his total earnings from brand endorsements and playing league cricket in various countries. Meanwhile, his annual salary from his duties as a South African cricketer is estimated to be $1 million. With the approaching T20 World Cup, the 36-year-old has decided to shift his focus to the shortest format of the game.
