Every batsman who plays for the country aims to hit a century at the international level. However, in the shortest format of the game i.e, T20Is, it is not that easy to cross the 100-run barrier. Still, there have been some batsmen who have hit daddy hundreds even in the 20-over format. In this article, we will be listing out five players who have scored the most runs in a T20I inning.
5. Max O’Dowd – 133*
The Netherlands opener smashed 133* runs off 73 balls against Malaysia in a T20I match in 2021. He hit 15 fours and 6 sixes during his knock. This match was part of the tri-nation series with the third team being Nepal. The Netherlands won this game by 15 runs as they restricted Malaysia to 176/8 after scoring 191/2.
4. Glenn Maxwell -145*
Aussie explosive batsman Glenn Maxwell played this memorable knock while opening the innings against Sri Lanka in 2016. He hit 145 runs off 65 balls with the help of 14 fours and 9 sixes. Australia posted a huge total of 263/3 while batting first, and restricted Sri Lanka to 178/9 thus winning the game by 85 runs.
3. Aaron Finch – 156
Australian batsman Aaron Finch played a historic knock of 156 runs off 63 balls against England in 2013. This remained as the highest individual score in T20Is for a long period of time. Finch hit 11 fours and 14 sixes during his knock in this match.
2. Hazratullah Zazai – 162*
Hazratullah Zazai of Afghanistan played one of the most memorable T20I innings when he hit 162* runs off 62 balls against Ireland in 2019. Zazai smacked 11 fours and 16 sixes in this knock and helped the team score 278/3 in 20 overs. This is the highest ever innings total in the history of T20Is. Afghanistan won this match quite comfortably as Ireland could manage only 194/6 in the chase.
1. Aaron Finch – 172
Aussie captain Aaron Finch broke his own record when he slammed 172 runs off 76 balls against Zimbabwe in 2018. Finch hit 16 fours and 10 sixes in his innings, and his side put up a big total of 229/2 while batting first. In response, Zimbabwe could score only 129/9 and lost the game by 100 runs.
