SL vs IND: Rahul Dravid likely to coach the India team on Sri Lanka tour
Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid is likely to take up coaching duties in India’s upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. With the head coach Ravi Shastri being engaged with the Test team in England, Dravid is expected to coach the limited-overs squad temporarily. While BCCI is yet to make an official announcement, ESPN Cricinfo have reported the development.
India are expected to play Sri Lanka in three ODIs and as many T20Is starting from 13th July to 27th July. With the senior cricketers playing in England, a second-string squad shall confront Sri Lanka. Having coached several India A and Under-19 teams in the last few years, Dravid will be well aware of the numerous Indian players who are likely to make the cut for the Sri Lanka tour.
Dravid is currently heading the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Also, the other NCA staff members are likely to be split into two teams of which one will tour Sri Lanka with Dravid and the other will travel to England with the India Women’s squad next month. According to reports, former India quick Paras Mhambrey is likely to be named as the bowling coach of the men’s limited-overs sides in Sri Lanka.
