Haddin opines on Warner’s reaction after being sacked as SRH skipper
In the 14th edition of IPL which stopped midway, one got to see many surprising moments. However, the biggest one turned out to be the sacking of SRH skipper David Warner. SRH were languishing at the bottom of the points table in 2021 but Warner had always been upright in his duties in all these years. However, management had a different point of view and the huge decision initiated a big debate in the cricket fraternity.
The responsibility was handed over to Kane Williamson from the next game and Warner was even dropped from the XI for Hyderabad’s game against RR. In the same reference, SRH head Brad Haddin coach has revealed Warner’s reaction after he got to know this harsh decision by management.
“He took it with class. It was a bit of a shock to everyone. Management decided to go in a different direction to try to spark something within the team. We weren’t playing to the standard we needed to. With Davey, the way he handled it was all class. He just got on back with the job,” said Haddin (while being asked about Warner’s reaction) as quoted by Fox Cricket.
Warner’s form in IPL 2021 was under too many questions as the batsman was moving up with the strike rate of just 110.28 However, he has been amid runs in all last few seasons of the Indian T20 league. In fact, he is the highest overseas run-getter with three Orange Caps under his belt.
Mohammad Nabi replaced David Warner in SRH’s next game
Just before Warner’s sacking, Hyderabad came up with a press release and added the decision is being made in the team’s favour. They are trying to get a team combination which will only be possible by resting Warner. In their next game, they included Mohammad Nabi in place of the ace batsman.
However, Haddin stated that if the tournament would have gone in a previous manner, Warner would have definitely marked his return to the side as he is one of the best in the world in this form of the game.
