The second wave of COVID-19 has left India in despair with more than 4 lakh positive being reported almost every day. With the acute shortage of Oxygen in most parts of the country, the fatality rate has also increased. The situation is more or less similar to last year when national lockdown was in place but the virus is more dangerous now. The transmission rate is much faster now and almost all states are now announcing strict lockdowns.

Even the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) had to be suspended indefinitely after the virus breached the strict bio-secure bubble. Amidst all this, several cricketers, Indian and foreign, have come forward and help the country in their own way. The new name added to the list is India wicket-keeper and Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant.

He took to social media to express himself and stated that he is praying for the ones who have lost their family members in this pandemic. He also pointed out the importance of the team work during these tough times and saluted the country’s frontline workers who have been working tirelessly since last year.

At the same time, Rishabh Pant announced that he will be supporting Hemkunt Foundation through a monetary donation which will help the needy to get Oxygen cylinders, beds and necessary medications to recover from COVID. The southpaw also cleared he is willing to work with the organisations who lend medical support to rural India and non-metro cities.

Rishabh Pant urges everyone to contribute to the cause

The wicketkeeper-batsman also urged everyone to come forward and contribute in whichever way possible so India recovers from these toughest times sooner. “I urge everyone to contribute in their own way so that we can help reach the remotest parts of the country and spread awareness about COVID relief and vaccination programs being run by the central and state governments,” he ended his long note with this request.

Rishabh Pant recently featured in the now suspended IPL and led the Capitals to the top of the points table. He was in decent form as well and will be soon travelling to England to take part in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand
