IPL 2021: RR vs SRH Preview – Hyderabad seek fresh start with Williamson as captain

As the first half of the IPL 2021 season ends, two teams who have found it difficult in this season will come head to head for a match-up at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on May 2. Sunrisers Hyderabad have played six matches and have won only one match so far. Their poor run has also led to David Warner getting sacked as the skipper.

For their next match against Rajasthan Royals, Kane Williamson will be taking over. Royals, on other hand, have won only two matches so far in this league, having played six. As these two teams have been lingering at the bottom of the table, they would be looking for a turn around as they head towards the second half of the season. In head to head, there is a pretty balanced number, with Hyderabad winning seven and Rajasthan winning six.

Team News:

Rajasthan Royals: Rajasthan Royals have signed in Rassie van der Dussen as a replacement of Ben Stokes in this season of the IPL. However, the South African hasn’t yet joined the camp and is in quarantine. So, until he joins, Royals are left with only four overseas options, Jos Buttler, David Miller, Chris Morris and Mustafizur Rahman, who are likely to retain their spot in the team. Even though they lost their previous match, they should retain their XI as well, without making any changes in the side. Without a doubt, the balance this side has is ideal but the results have not gone their way so far.

Sunrisers Hyderabad: Hyderabad brought back Manish Pandey in the previous match. His return was enough to keep him in the side as he notched up a fifty. J Suchith has played the last two matches in place of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who could be back in the team to take his spot back if he recovers. In an interesting turn of events, David Warner has been sacked from his role as the captain. Kane Williamson has been named the skipper and a certain press release also noted that there will be a change in the overseas combination. Warner, Williamson, Jonny Bairstow and Rashid Khan played in the previous match. As of now, it is unclear whether Warner will play or not.
