Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit will together score more runs than Kohli and Maxwell: Aakash Chopra
The Indian cricketing extravaganza’s 14th edition will kick off on 9th April 2021. The first match of the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI).
And now, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has offered his opinion on the first match of the much-awaited tournament. Chopra stated that the duo of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav will score more runs in the first rubber than the duo of Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell. However, Chopra was quick to add that it is also possible that Kohli alone might score the same runs as Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav as well.
Chopra further stated that at least one opener from Mumbai and Bangalore will cross the 30-run mark. The former Indian cricketer also said that both Rohit and Kohli are in good form and have played a lot of cricket coming into the IPL.
“SKY and Rohit will together score more runs than Kohli and Maxwell. That’s what I feel although Kohli alone might score the same runs as SKY and Rohit. One opener from each team will score more than 30 runs. It is possible these two openers could be Kohli and Rohit because both are coming with good form and continuous cricket behind them,” said Chopra on his YouTube Channel.
“I feel spinners will take more wickets,” says Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra also felt that the spinners will scalp more wickets than the pacers even though more fast bowlers will be playing in the encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI). He reasoned that since the MA Chidambaram Stadium is a big one, many batsmen might get caught in the deep. And finally, Chopra stated that the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians will win the match.
“I feel spinners will take more wickets than fast bowlers although there will be more fast bowlers playing, if we combine the two teams it could be six to seven. But spinners will take more wickets in the end. I am seeing a lot of batsmen getting caught out in the deep because it is a big ground. Last but not the least I am tilting in favor of the defending champions Mumbai,” concluded Chopra.
