No request made by Moeen Ali to remove any logo: CSK CEO
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has confirmed that Moeen Ali didn’t make any request of removing the logo of an alcohol brand from his jersey. As per several reports doing the rounds, Moeen, who doesn’t drink or promote alcohol, had requested CSK for the logo of SNJ 10000 to be removed from his shirt ahead of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
SNJ 10000 is a Chennai-based SNJ Distilleries beer brand. It’s pertinent to note that SNJ Distilleries are one of the sponsors of the CSK team. The reports also mentioned that the Super Kings agreed to Moeen’s request for the logo removal.
However, the CEO brushed off all the reports. “There has been no request made by Moeen to CSK to remove any logo,” the CSK CEO was quoted as saying in Times Now.
The Super Kings jersey also has a sports camouflage paying tribute to the Indian armed forces. CSK’s skipper, MS Dhoni, holds the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army. After India’s loss in the 2019 World Cup semi-final, he trained with the Parachute Regiment.
Moeen Ali praises Dhoni and CSK
Moeen, earlier, lauded the Super Kings for their ‘structured’ approach. He also sounded excited to play under Dhoni, the three-time IPL winning skipper.
“I think what differentiates CSK from other teams is actually how they structure everything — from the squad they have to the way they do things. They look a very calm franchise that doesn’t panic,” Moeen said.
“I’ve spoken to players who have played under MS and they tell me how he improves their game. I believe a great captain does that,” he added.
Moeen was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2020, but the Virat Kohli-led team released him. The all-rounder then registered himself at a base price of INR 2 crore in the IPL auction that took place in February.
Punjab Kings and CSK were engaged in a bidding war after which the Super Kings secured his services at a price of INR 7 crores. Dhoni’s men are scheduled to play their first match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 10 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
