The tour of India has now become even more difficult for the visitors. England captain Eoin Morgan has now been ruled out of the remaining two ODIs against India. Morgan’s side lost the first ODI and is already trailing in the series. This is the final leg of the tour and now wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler will take up the mantle. Sam Billings shall also be unavailable. Meanwhile, all-rounder, Liam Livingstone will make his ODI debut.

It is learned that Morgan split the webbing between his thumb and index finger while his fielding effort in the first ODI on Tuesday. The skipper was deemed fit to bat later in the game and struck 22 runs off 30 deliveries before being dismissed by Shardul Thakur.

The injury required four stitches but during the practice session on Thursday, Morgan found himself unable to take his mind off the injury.

“I had the hand re-dressed before the start of training today but it quickly became apparent that I found myself protecting the injury and getting into the wrong positions to catch the ball,” Eoin Morgan was quoted in the statement released by England Cricket.
