IND vs ENG: Suryakumar Yadav opens up on his debut innings

Suryakumar Yadav has been amid too much appreciation ever since he announced his international debut in style. The Mumbai Indians batsman was constantly shining in the IPL and domestic circuit over the last few years, and his international debut was much awaited by fans around the world. Yadav got his first chance for India in the 4th T20I against England and displayed every inch of perfection throughout his innings.

He was in the playing XI squad in the 2nd T20I too, but didn’t get the chance to show and was eventually dropped in the 3rd T20I. However, with a blistering 31-ball 57, he has done all the justice to his maiden call-up. Walking down at no three for India, Yadav played like a star, and what caught the limelight was his very first shot that he smashed for a six in an unorthodox manner. Star pacer Jofra Archer was at the receiving end and got stunned after his tactics. The debutant was also given the player of the match for his sheer heroics.

Later after the match, another star for India, Shardul Thakur, got involved in chit-chat with Yadav and asked him to open up on his that particular shot. Yadav told how he knew Archer’s planning through his experience in IPL in a video shared by BCCI.

“I have always seen him [ Jofra Archer] whenever a new batsman is up against him in international cricket, he tries to keep the batter on their backfoot. And, I have played some matches over the years against him in the IPL. So, I have an idea about that.

This shot [the six over fine leg] is a shot that I have been playing for a long time since my local cricket days. I have played this shot in local cricket, domestic cricket, and now in international cricket,” said Yadav in the video.
