IPL 2021: AB de Villiers smashes his iPhone out of shape during practice

Ab De Villiers is a batting phenomenon. He is a man who can destroy any opposition and play outrageous shots that can give the crowd their monies worth. And, De Villiers has now started practicing for the 14th edition of the IPL that starts on 9th April 2021.

The South African batting legend has been practicing with former Kiwi cricketer Krugal van Wyk and Bennie Bester. And, De Villiers recorded his entire practice session with his iPhone. In his practice, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batting legend hit a sumptuous straight drive that went and hit his iPhone at the opposite end. Needless to say, the iPhone was smashed out of shape.

The video of the same was posted by the legendary batsman on Instagram. And, at the time of writing, the video has garnered over 1.3 Million views.

AB de Villiers all set to don the RCB jersey in IPL 2021

De Villiers will be gearing up for the 14th edition of the IPL. The RCB batsman was in good form in the previous edition, and scored 454 runs at an average of 45.40. However, the RCB side was knocked out in the Eliminator stage in the 2020 edition of the IPL.

De Villiers will also qualify as one of the most decorated batsmen in the history of IPL cricket. The batting legend has scored close to 5000 (4849) IPL runs, and has scored them at an average of 40.40 and at a whopping strike rate of 151.91. He has also plundered 3 hundreds and 38 fifties in his IPL career.

The batting behemoth is also one of the greatest batsmen to have represented South Africa at the international level. In his Test career, De Villiers scored 8765 runs and scored them at an average of 50.66. In the ODI format of the game, the 37-year-old is the second highest run scorer for the Proteas and has amassed 9577 runs at a stunning average of 53.50. De Villiers also plundered 25 hundreds and 53 fifties for his country in ODI cricket.

Apart from that, he also holds the record for scoring the fastest century in ODI cricket. De Villiers scored a 31-ball ton at Johannesburg against the West Indies in the year 2015. The cricketing legend will be looking to get his hands on the IPL trophy when he takes the field for the Bangalore outfit in the 14th edition of the IPL.
